Home accessibility expenses

You can claim a credit for money you spend on renovating your home to make it more accessible if you qualify for the disability tax credit or are over 65 at the end of the year and own your own home within Canada.

The renovation must be permanent in nature and allow you more access within your home, or reduce the risk of harm. Some exceptions apply. Always keep your receipts!

If you are the spouse of the person described above, or a caregiver, you may be able to claim this credit.

You may have an eligible expense that also qualifies as a medical expense. If so, you can claim the expense as a medical expense and a home accessibility expense. See our medical expense section for more information.

Come in and see us to determine if you qualify for this credit.
